Corey Thomas, CEO of Rapid7 once said, “You can’t build a company unless you start from a healthy place.” Most other successful startup founders agree with the sentiment, but, what does this mean?

- How might physical health be measured by more than stamina, strength, and endurance?

- Could spiritual health be regarded as where one feels loved — so much that love and validation can then be given to others effortlessly without expecting anything in return?

- Or what if mental health wasn't defined by what was wrong with people, but by what's right — characteristics like curiosity, mindfulness, empathy, and self-discipline?

- Healthy companies start with healthy entrepreneurs. But what do we mean by that — and, from there, how do we measure it?

Moderated by Laura Hessler, currently Manager of Talent Acquisition at BlueCross Blueshield of Tennessee, has advised numerous startups on HR policies throughout her career. Questions will be received from the audience after panelists share brief insights and research findings about how startups can create environments that foster happiness, prevent burnout, and reward work-life balance.

On the panel will include:

Michael Brooks, Jr., co-founder and Chief Product Officer at Spire Labs (http://spirelabs.co), a venture hub for Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) brands that promote health and wellness among individuals as well as throughout companies.

Shelley Prevost, Ed.D., Counseling Psychology, is CEO of Torch, General Partner at The JumpFund and Partner & Director of Happiness at Lamp Post Group. She is a frequent contributor at Inc. and writes about female entrepreneurship and creating healthy startup environments.

Alex Lavidge, Founder at The Startup Experts, spent three months in 2017 at Optimum Health Institute, a raw vegan retreat and healing center where he lost 55 lbs. and studied the benefits of building company cultures that nourish mind, body, and spirit.
